Ashleigh Buhai made five birdies on Friday on her way to a four-under-par 67 in the second round of the LPGA Tour’s Dana Open in Sylvania, Ohio to make sure she has some weekend action.

She opened with a level-par 71 in the first round, and with the cut eventually made at one-under, she had some work to do. The Women’s Open champion responded well, with three birdies on the front nine, on the second, fifth and ninth. She made a bogey on the 12th, but she picked up two more shots on the 14th and 18th to get herself to four-under for the tournament and a share of 33rd.

She is just six strokes behind the leader, Lucy Li of the United States. After a sensational seven-under 64, which tied a career-low she first set earlier this season at the Honda LPGA Thailand playing as a sponsor invite, Li jumped into the top spot. Chasing her at eight-under and in a tie for second are rookie Ruoning Yin and two-time LPGA Tour winner Carlota Ciganda.

Buhai climbed 33 places on the leaderboard, but last week’s winner on the tour, Paula Reto of South Africa, will miss the weekend after she signed for a level-par 71 in the second round. She was at one-over for the tournament, and the cut was at one-under.
