Ricky Hendler carded a six-under-par 66 on Friday to reach nine-under for the tournament to win the Bushveld Tour’s two-day event at Eagle Canyon Golf Estate by four shots.
Hendler, who opened with a three-under-par 69 which put him one shot off the halfway lead, made three birdies in the first five holes in the second round to pull clear, and despite a bogey on the sixth, he was never headed. In second was Coert Groenewald, and Basil Wright and Leon van der Walt shared third on three-under.
Hendler went on to pick up four birdies on the back nine without dropping another shot.
He climbed to seventh on the Bushveld Tour’s Order of Merit, which is headed by Keegan McLachlan from Michael Kok. Slade Pickering is in third. McLachlan has played nine tournaments on the circuit of the 11 which have been played so far, while Hendler has played six.
