Christiaan Bezuidenhout was the leading South African on Thursday after the first round of the PGA Tour’s Shriners Children’s Open at TPC Summerlin in Las Vegas, Nevada when he signed for a three-under-par 68.

The full field hadn’t finished when play was suspended due to darkness, but with just one threeball still on the course, the final scores will not be much different when the round is completed. The tournament was led by Tom Hoge of the United States on eight-under-par. That gave him a one-stroke lead over Si Woo Kim of Korea and American Maverick McNealy. There were eight players on six-under-par.

It was a solid round by Bezuidenhout, with four birdies and just a single bogey as he hit 15 of 18 greens in regulation. His only bogey came on the par-four 12th, when he three-putted from 43 feet after he left his first putt six feet from the hole.

Dean Burmester opened with a level-par 71 to be in a share of 98th, while Garrick Higgo and Dylan Frittelli were on one-over 72 in a share of 116th. MJ Daffue was a shot further back in a share of 125th.
