When play was suspended for bad light on Thursday, Nicole Garcia had taken a share of the lead in the first round of the Ladies European Tour’s Aramco Team Series Jeddah at Royal Greens Golf & Country Club in King Abdullah Economic City, Saudi Arabia.

Garcia was flawless with her five-under-par 67 putting her atop the leaderboard with Ursula Wikstrom of Finland, Italy’s Virginia Elena Carta, Virginia Elena Carta of Spain and Sweden’s Johanna Gustavsson.

Garcia picked up her first shots with an eagle on the par-five fourth, and three birdies on the back nine, including two in a row on 17 and 18, saw her and the other four leaders into a one-stroke lead over Lucie Malchirand of France and Germany’s Chiara Noja.

Stacy Bregman was the next best South African with her two-under 70 giving her a share of 18th, while Casandra Alexander and Lee-Anne Pace were a shot further back on one-under in a share of 33rd.

Nobuhle Dlamini of Swaziland battled her way to a four-over-par 76.
