Jonathan Waschefort carded an eight-under-par 63 on Monday to take the first round lead of the Bushveld Tour’s Race to Q-School Golferade Series #3 at Wanderers Golf Club.

Waschefort made nine birdies and a bogey, and he came home in six-under-par 29 after a bogey-free back nine. His drop came on the first hole, a par-five, and he immediately rectified that with two bogeys on the trot on two and three. He picked up one more ahead of the turn on the eighth before his birdie spree on his way home.

He led by two from Jono Broomhead, with Arno Pretorius on five-under-par 66. There were six players on four-under-par 67.
