Ashleigh Buhai closed with a four-under-par 68 on Sunday to finish in seventh place in the LPGA Tour’s HSBC Women’s World Championship in Singapore.

There were three birdies on each nine for the world number 20, as well as two bogeys, one on her way out and one on her way in as she finished on 12-under-par for the tournament. That put her five strokes behind the winner, Jin Young Ko of Korea, who finished with a three-under-par 69 to hold off former world number one Nelly Korda by two shots.

The other South African in the field, Paula Reto, closed out a tough week with a one-over-par 73 to finish on 10-over-par in 64th in the field of 66 players.

It was a good warm-up for Buhai, who returns to South Africa this week to play in the Investec South African Women’s Open, a tournament she has won three times, the last of which came in 2018.
