Telfer leaps 613 places in Rolex Women’s World Rankings

Kaleigh Telfer’s recent form has been rewarded by a staggering 613-place leap up the latest Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings to 570th this week.

The rookie finished fifth the Investec South African Women’s Open Championship at the weekend, and it was her third top-10 finish on the six-tournament Sunshine Ladies Tour circuit. It also got her into this week’s Aramco Team Series Singapore on the Ladies European Tour.

Her leap catapults her into the top 10 of South African women players according to the rankings.

Still at the top of the pile for South Africa is Ashleigh Buhai, who climbed to places to 16th in the world with her win at Steenberg over the weekend.

There were also big climbs for Casandra Alexander, who finished in a share of seventh in the Investec SA Women’s Open, and Nadia van der Westhuizen, who rounded out a solid season in 14th place on the Investec Order of Merit.

Alexander was up 40 places to 266th, just reward for her two wins in the season, and Van der Westhuizen climbed 97 places to 653rd.

The fourth-ranked South African, Nicole Garcia, edged closer to the world’s top 200, climbing two places to 201st.
