Retief Goosen’s closing round of seven-under-par 65 was not enough to catch the runaway winner on Sunday in the PGA Tour Champions tournament, the Galleri Classic in Rancho Mirage in California.
Goosen finished in a share of third, despite closing with two bogeys in the final four holes. Up to that point, he had made nine birdies without dropping a shot. He finished on 11-under for the tournament, five shots behind the winner David Toms of the United States. Toms also had a closing 65 to finish on 16-under, four clear of Steven Alker of New Zealand.
Goosen shared third with Paul Stankowski of the United States.
Ernie Else carded a one-under 71 to finish in a share of 26th on five-under.
