Ian Snyman played himself into contention on Friday with a five-under-par 65 moving him into a share of eighth at the halfway stage of the Asian Tour’s International Series Vietnam at KN Golf Links, in Cam Ranh, Khánh Hòa, Vietnam.
A late bogey on the 13th saw him reach 36 holes in nine-under-par 135, four shots off the lead. Jass Janewattananond of Thailand raced into the lead with a 10-under-par 62 taking him to 13-under and a one-shot lead over Zimbabwe’s Kieran Vincent, who had a second-round 65. There were five players on 11-under, and then came Snyman’s group of four players on nine-under.
Jaco Ahlers, who started with a three-under 69, slumped to a four-over 76 in the second round and missed the cut by one on two-under. Jbe’ Kruger improved to 69 in the second round, but he too missed the cut after finishing 36 holes in one-under.
Neil Schietekat, MJ Viljoen and Justin Harding also missed the cut.
