Deon Germishuys carded a closing two-under-par 68 on Sunday to finish in a share of ninth place in the DP World Tour’s ISPA Handa-Championship at PGM Ishioka Golf Club in Omitama, Japan.

Germishuys, who took his maiden Sunshine Tour win in the Sishen Classic last May, and earned his DP World Tour card through the Challenge Tour, made four birdies and two bogeys to move to 10-under for the tournament and a share of ninth with Spain’s Jorge Campillo and Jazz Janewattananond of Thailand.

In the end, 10-under was five shots out of the sudden-death play-off between Aaron Cockerill of Canada and Lucas Herbert of Australia, which was won on the second extra hole by Herbert. Calum Hill of Scotland was third on 14-under-par.

Jacques Kruyswijk also closed with a two-under-par 68 to finish on seven-under for the week and a share of 16th. Jbe’ Kruger had a level-par 70 in the final round and was level-par for the tournament in a share of 59th.

Louis de Jager closed with a four-over 74 and Ernie Els with a 76 to finish in a share of 64th and 68th respectively.
