Casey Jarvis put his poor finish in last week’s Challenge Tour tournament behind him with a three-under-par 69 on Thursday in the opening round of the Copenhagen Challenge at Royal Golf Club, Copenhagen, Denmark.

Jarvis made five birdies and two bogeys to give himself a share of fourth after 18 holes. He and five other players were two strokes off the lead which was held by Julian Suri of the United States. Suri made an eagle on the 18th – he started his round on the 10th – and he was a shot clear of local player Alexander George Frances and Jack Senior of England.

Jarvis started his round on the 10th too, and dropped a shot on the 13th. He made birdies on 14 and 16 to turn one-under, and picked up three shots with one bogey on his homeward nine.

Keenan Davidse had a solid start too, with a two-under 70 putting him in a share of 10th. Martin Vorster, Haydn Porteous, Dylan Mostert and Pieter Moolman all carded rounds of level-par 73 for a share of 33rd, while Jaco Prinsloo was in a share of 52nd on one-over.

JJ Senekal was on two-over while Zimbabwe’s Benjamin Follett-Smith carded an opening one-under-par 71 to be in a share of 21st.
