Her closing four-over-par 76 wasn’t the finish she was hoping for on Sunday, but Nicole Garcia still managed to finish in a share of 12th in the Ladies European Tour’s Helsingborg Open in Sweden at Allerum Golf Club.
Garcia had a share of the lead heading into the final round of the 54-hole tournament, but she had a battle throughout the final 18 holes and finished the tournament on three-under, eight strokes behind the winner. Sweden’s Lisa Pettersson closed with a five-under 67 to pull one stroke clear of Ana Palaez Trivino of Spain, whose three-under 69 was not enough to hold on for the win.
Garcia made early bogeys, on the second and fourth holes, before making her first birdie on the fifth. She dropped another shot on the eighth to turn in two-over 38, and there were three more bogeys on her homeward nine, together with one more birdie.
She also relinquished her position as top South African to Casandra Alexander, who also had a battle in her closing round, carding a two-over 74. She had started the day one shot off the lead in a share of third. She made two birdies and four bogeys to finish the tournament in a share of 10th on four-under-par.
Stacy Bregman closed with a one-over 73 to be four-over for the tournament in a share of 46th.
