Ashleigh Buhai seems to have sparked a winning habit and she picked up her fourth title since August last year to climb to just outside the world’s top 10 in this week’s Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings.
The current Investec South African Women’s Open champion won the LPGA Tour’s Shoprite LPGA Classic presented by Acer at the weekend, and climbed four places to 12th, the highest position of her career. She has been a fixture inside the world’s top 100 since 2020, but her current position puts her in some rarified company of players who, mostly, are much younger than she is.
It was her first win in the United States after many years of trying, and only her second title on the LPGA Tour after her major championship triumph last year. It was her 21st professional victory, 14 of which came on the Sunshine Ladies Tour.
Paula Reto and Nicole Garcia also climbed on spot each after action in the United States and in Sweden respectively. Reto is in 75th and Garcia is up to 223rd.
Kaleigh Telfer had the most significant movement amongst the top 10 South Africans on the rankings as she jumped 32 places to 514th, making her the sixth-ranked South African on the list.
