Pieter Moolman opened his campaign in the Challenge Tour’s Kaskáda Golf Challenge at the Kaskáda Golf Resort in Brno, Czech Republic on Thursday with a four-under-par 67.
Moolman made six birdies and two bogeys to be in a share of 10th after the first round. That was three shots off the lead which was held by Italy’s Lorenzo Scalise, who had eight birdies and a bogey on his card. Scalise led by one from five players on six-under, and there were four more in front of Moolman on five-under in a share of sixth.
Moolman started his round on the first, and dropped his first shot on the par-four second. Three birdies ahead of the turn, on five, seven and nine, moved him in the right direction, and he made three more on the homeward nine. His birdies on 14, 16 and 17 were punctuated by a bogey on 15.
One shot behind Moolman was Martin Vorster, whose three-under 68 included five birdies and two bogeys to put him in a share of 14th.
JJ Senekal was a further stroke back on two-under in a share of 21st, and Casey Jarvis opened with a one-under 70 for a share of 33rd. Jaco Prinsloo, Dylan Mostert, Albert Venter and Haydn Porteous all had one-over 72s for a share of 66th, while Keenan Davidse opened with a two-over 73. Tristen Strydom and Luke Jerling battled their way to four-over and six-over respectively.
