Garcia’s consistency sees her climb in world rankings

Nicole Garcia has missed just one cut on the Ladies European Tour this year, and been outside the top 25 just once too, and that consistency has seen her climb six places on the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings this week after a share of 13th in Finland.

While she is yet to reach her highest position of the year – that was 192nd after her share of 11th in the Aramco Team Series-Singapore on March 18 – that consistency, if it’s added to more top 10s than her share of eighth at the Joburg Ladies Open, is certain to see her improve further.

On the list of South Africa’s top 10 according to the official rankings, Lee-Anne Pace was the only other player who improved her position. She was up two places to 175th.

The two South Africans who are in action this week in the US Women’s Open, Ashleigh Buhai and Paula Reto, remain the top two South Africans. Buhai was unchanged in 15th and Reto also unchanged in 80th.

South Africa’s top 10:

  1. Ashleigh Buhai 15 (unchanged)
  2. Paula Reto 80 (unchanged)
  3. Lee-Anne Pace 175 (up 2)
  4. Nicole Garcia 230 (up 6)
  5. Casandra Alexander 273 (down 4)
  6. Kaleigh Telfer 526 (down 7)
  7. Stacy Bregman 624 (down 11)
  8. Nadia van der Westhuizen 718 (down 6)
  9. Kiera Floyd 724 (down 7)
  10. Lejan Lewthwaite 933 (down 6)
