Garrick Higgo continued his improved run of form on Sunday when he closed the PGA Tour’s 3M Open with a five-under-par 66 at TPC Twin Cities in Blaine, Minnesota for a share of 13th.

It was a week in which Higgo carded all four rounds in the 60s as he opened with a 68, followed it with a 69 and then a second 68 before he made an eagle, four birdies and a bogey in his final round to reach 13-under-par for the tournament. That left him 11 strokes behind the runaway winner, Lee Hodges of the United States, whose maiden win on the PGA Tour came by a yawning seven strokes of Scotland’s Martin Laird and Americans Kevin Streelman and JT Poston.

It was the first time since the AT&T Byron Nelson in May, where he came 30th, that Higgo has had all four rounds in the 60s, and it is his best finish of the season since his third-place finish in the Sanderson Farms Championship in early October last year.

His performance lifted him to 72nd in the FedEx Cup rankings, and with only the Wyndham Championship on August 3 before the play-offs for which only the top 70 players qualify, he’ll be looking for one more good finish to get into the lucrative season-ending events.

Behind Higgo, MJ Daffue closed with a two-under-par 69 to take a share of 43rd on eight-under. Erik van Rooyen, Christiaan Bezuidenhout and Dylan Frittelli all missed the cut.
