Du Plessis climbs Czech leaderboard with 2nd round 67

Hennie du Plessis had an eagle, four birdies and a bogey on Friday in the second round of the DP World Tour’s D+D Real Czech Master on his was to a five-under-par 67 and a share of 25th at the halfway mark of the tournament.

Du Plessis went off the 10th and made a birdie on his very first hole, but he followed it with a bogey at the 11th. He picked up another shot on the par-three 16th, and then made eagle-three on the first hole immediately after the turn. He picked up two more strokes with birdies on the fourth and sixth as he moved to sic-under-par for the tournament.

He was seven strokes behind the leader, Alexander Bjork of Sweden, who led y one from Denmark’s Nicolai Hojgaard. Matt Wallace of England and Finland’s Sami Valimaki shared third on 11-under.

Also on six-under in a share of 25th was JC Ritchie, who had his second-successive three-under-par 69. One shot further back were three more South Africans in Jayden Schaper, who had a 67 in the second round, Tristen Strydom, who signed for a 68, and Justin Walters who had a 69. They were in a share of 36th.

Deon Germishuys, Zander Lombard, Bryce Easton, Wilco Nienaber, Thriston Lawrence, Oliver Bekker, Daniel van Tonder, Ockie Strydom and Thomas Aiken all missed the cut, while Louis de Jager retired.
