Cara Gorlei made an ace on Thursday as she opened the Ladies European Tour’s Lacoste Ladies Open de France at Golf Barriere in Deauville, France with a three-under-par 68 for a share of eighth after the first round.
She started her round on the 10th with a birdie, and made two more on 15 and 16 after she dropped a shot on the 13th. After the turn, she dropped another shot on the fourth before she holed her tee shot on the 122-yard fifth. She dropped another on the sixth, but a birdie on the seventh kept her in touch with the lead in the 54-hole tournament.
There was a three-way share of the lead on five-under-par between Bel Wardle of England, Emma Grechi of France and Australia’s Kirsten Rudgeley. They were one clear of four players in a share of fourth, and Gorlei shared eighth with Chiara Tamburlini of Switzerland.
Nobuhle Dlamini of Eswatini was in a share of 27th on level-par.
