Jaco Ahlers carded a one-under-par 69 on Saturday in the third round of the Asian Tour’s International Series Egypt to slip down the leaderboard to a share of 11th on nine-under-par for the tournament.
It was a slow start for Ahlers, with bogeys on two and six making his start slower than he would have liked. He got things going in the right direction with a birdie on nine, and turned in one-over 37. But he made bogey again on 11, and he needed to do some work to stay in contention. A birdie on 13 started things moving in the right direction, and he signed off with a flourish with birdies on 17 and 18.
That should give him some momentum going into the final round. He will start six shots behind the leader, Andy Ogletree of the United States. Ogletree closed with an eagle two on the 18th, and his five-under 65 put him three shots clear of Bern Wiesberger of Austria and Richard T Lee of Canada.
Ian Snyman had a two-under 68 in the third round to move into a share of 21st on six-under, Mathiam Keyser carded a one-under 69 to move to three-under and a share of 39th, and Tristen Strydom had a three-over 73 to slip to three-over for the tournament and a share of 68th.
