Jaco Ahlers stayed in the hunt on Friday with a bogey-free four-under-par 68 in the second round of the Asian Tour’s Yeangder TPC at Linkou International Golf and Country Club in New Taipei City, Taiwan.
It was his second bogey-free round for the big South African, and he climbed nine places on the leaderboard into a share of 18th place. At seven-under through 36 holes, he was seven strokes behind the leader, Thailand’s Suteepat Prateeptienchai. He added a six-under 66 to his opening 64 to lead by four from countrymen Sadom Kaewkanjana and Settee Prakongvech, and Miguel Tabuena of the Philippines.
Jbe’ Kruger carded a second-round three-under 69 to move to five-under and a share of 37th at the halfway mark, while Ian Snyman was eight shots better in his second round with a six-under 66 taking him to four-under and a share of 48th.
