Ahlers cards 6-under to get into mix in Singapore

Jaco Ahlers carded a six-under-par 66 on Friday to move to eight-under for the tournament and into seventh place at the halfway stage of the Asian Tour’s International Series Singapore at the Tampines Course at Tanah Merah Country Club.

Ahlers made seven birdies and a bogey, and, at the halfway stage of the third Saudi-funded Internatioanl Series event, was six strokes behind the leader, Gavin Green of Malaysia. Green carded his second successive seven-under 65 to move to 14-under, three clear of Thailand’s Phachara Khongwatmai.

First-round leader Scott Vincent of Zimbabwe slipped to a one-over 73 in the second round, and was in a share of eighth on seven-under.

Justin Harding had a roller-coaster of a round with seven birdies and five bogeys in his two-under 70, but he was in to the weekend’s play in a share of 28th on four-under. Jbe’ Kruger joined him at four-under, while Adilson Da Silva was on two-under after a level-par 72, and Keith Horne’s 72 saw him make the cut on the number at one-under.

Tristen Strydom, Neil Schietekat and Ian Snyman all missed the cut.
