Jaco Ahlers will head into the final round of the Asian Tour’s St Andrews Bay Championship just two shots off the lead after he continued a consistent week with a four-under-par 68 in the third round on Saturday.

Ahlers, who opened with a 66 and followed with a second-round 67, made five birdies and a bogey in his third round as he moved to 15-under-par for the tournament. The lead was held by Turk Petit of the United States, who blazed his way to a 10-under-par 62. At 17-under, Petit leads by one from Matt Jones of Australia. Ahlers shares third with Gaganjeet Bullar of India and Mito Pereira of Chile.

Behind Petit’s 62, the second-best round of the day belonged to Dean Burmester, who had a bogey-free 64 to climb into a share of 10th on 12-under ahead of the final round.

Yurav Premlall couldn’t make a birdie on the back nine, but four on the front saw him home in 68. He moved to a share of 17th on 10-under. Jbe’ Kruger had a 67 to climb to nine-under and a share of 23rd, and Ian Snyman’s 69 had him in a share of 27th on eight-under.

Neil Schietekat continued to battle, and a third-round 75 had him at three-under in a share of 51st.
