Ahlers signs for 66, is 2 back in International Series Vietnam

Jaco Ahlers dropped just one shot on Thursday on his way to a six-under-par 66 in the first round of the Asian Tour’s International Series Vietnam at KN Golf Links, in Cam Ranh, Khánh Hòa, Vietnam.

With seven birdies on his card, that took him to 66, just two shots off the lead which was held at eight-under by China’s Bai Zhengkai who was bogey-free for his 64. He led by one from Bai Zhengkai of Korea, India’s Honey Baisoya and Honey Baisoya of Taipei.

Ahlers shared fifth with five other players, and was a shot clear of 10 players on five-under, including Kieran Vincent of Zimbabwe, the younger brother of Scott Vincent.

Ian Snyman opened with a four-under-par 68 to be in a share of 21st, while Neil Schietekat was on two-under in a share of 62nd. MJ Viljoen signed for a one-over-par 73, Jbe’ Kruger was on two-over and Justin Harding had a four-over 76.
