Jaco Ahlers came storming the field on Friday with a nine-under-par 63 to move into a share of fourth place in the Asian Tour’s International Series Thailand and Black Mountain Golf Club.
Ahlers made an eagle, nine birdies and two bogeys as he moved to 12-under-par for the tournament at the halfway stage. That was just two shots off the pace set by Japan’s Ryo Hisatsune, who signed for a six-under 66 to move to 14-under through 36 holes. Korea’s Sungyeol Kwon and Doyeob Mun shared second one shot back on 13-under. Ahlers shared fourth with five other players, and there were seven on 11-under in a share of 10th.
Amongst those on 11-under was Zimbabwe’s Scott Vincent, who had a four-under 68 to go with his opening 65. South African Ian Snyman also carded a four-under 68, and was at nine-under in a share of 24th.
Mathiam Keyser made the cut on the number at six-under after a second round of one-under. While Neil Schietekat, Keith Horne and Zimbabwe’s Benjamin Follett-Smith missed the cut.
