Thomas Aiken closed with a level-par 72 on a wet Sunday in the DP World Tour’s BMW International Open at Golfclub München Eichenried in Munich, Germany, to finish in a share of 17th as his return to form continued.

Aiken had opened with a 72 in the first round, and he had rounds of 68 and 67 in the second and third rounds to put himself squarely in the mix. In the end, his nine-under-par total left him nine strokes off the winning total of 18-under as Scotsman Ewen Ferguson won his third DP World Tour title by two strokes from England’s Jordan Smith and Australian David Micheluzzi.

Aiken’s performance was projected to boost him by six places to 73rd on the Race to Dubai rankings, a comfortable position from which to launch the last part of the season as he sets about retaining his European playing privileges.

Brandon Stone and Louis de Jager were in a share of 32nd after closing rounds of one-over 73 and two-under 70 respectively.

Darren Fichardt and Casey Jarvis rounded out poor weekends by their standards with a six-over 78 and a one-over 73 respectively to finish in a share of 57th on level-par.
