Rigardt Albertse carried on where he left off when he carded a six-under-par 65 on Wednesday to cruise to a five-stroke win in the Bushveld Tour’s Race to Q-School Golferade Series #2 at Reading Country Club.

After his brilliant 62 in the second round took him into the lead, Albertse stretched away from his opposition with four birdies on the front nine. He bogeyed nine and 10, but then regained those strokes with an eagle on the 12th. The scoring frenzy continued with three birdies in a row from the 14th, and, although he bogeyed 17, he had done more than enough to win on 15-under for the 54 holes.

Nicholas Adams carded a closing two-under-par 69 to move to 10-under and second, while Stuart Krog had a 68 as he took third on nine-under-par.

In a share of fourth were Philip Geerts, Gareth Matthysen, Arno Pretorius and Francois van der Walt.

Albertse took home R10,000 for his troubles, and 170 points towards the Order of Merit for the series. The Race To Q-School Series is made up of three separate series of events. Each has its own Order of Merit. The Golferade Series is the second of the three. The top four finishers from each series will receive paid entry fees into the Sunshine Tour Qualifying School in April.

He tops the Order of Merit ahead of the final event next week at Wanderers Golf Club on 207 points, 13 clear of Ryan Tipping. Ruan Groenewald and Adams are in third and fourth, with chris Long and Nicholaus Frade in a share of fifth.
