It was a bogey-free four-under-par 68 for Casandra Alexander on Friday as she got her game back on track in the second round of the Ladies European Tour’s La Sella Open at La Sella Golf Resort in Alicante, Spain.
The woman who shared seventh in a superb performance in the AIG Women’s Open at the end of August, returned to tournament play with a three-over-par 75 in Spain. But she got things right with her second round as she climbed to a total of one-under through 36 holes and moved into a share of 34th.
Together with, amongst others, Lee-Anne Pace, Alexander was six strokes off the lead ahead of the weekend. Australia’s Kirsten Rudgeley, Sara Kouskova of Czechia and Italian Virginia Elena Carta were all tied for the lead on seven-under-par. Four players were in a share of fourth place at the end of the second round with Finland’s Ursula Wikstrom, Spain’s Blanca Fernandez, Japan’s Ayako Uehara and Germany’s Helen Briem all on six-under-par.
Pace had just a single bogey on her scorecard as she joined Alexander as the only South African to make the cut. Eswatini’s Nobuhle Dlamini did make to the weekend, however, also in a share of 34th on one-under as the cut fell at level-par.
Missing out were Nicole Garcia, Cara Gorlei and Stacy Bregman.
