Casandra Alexander finished in a share of 13th on Saturday after she carded a closing one-under-par 72 in the closing round of the Ladies European Tour’s Lalla Meryem Cup at the Blue Course at Royal Golf Dar Es Salam in Rabat, Morocco.
Alexander, who won the opening Sunshine Ladies Tour event of 2023 last week when she took the SuperSport Ladies Challenge at Sun City, started the 54-hole tournament in Morocco with a one-over-par 74, and she improved by one stroke each day to end the week on one-under. That was 11 shots behind the winner, Maja Stark of Sweden, who beat compatriot Linn Grant, who finished on eight-under, by four shots.
Alexander had four bogeys, two on each nine, and she kept her score ticking over by making five birdies. She got the bit between her teeth towards the end, but bogeys on 16 and 18 meant she just missed out on a finish inside the top 10.
However, she will be pleased with a solid start to her 2023 Ladies European Tour campaign, especially with two events in South Africa upcoming – the Joburg Ladies Open and the Invested South African Women’s Open.
