While she battled in tough weather conditions on Friday, Casandra Alexander still managed to climb into a share of 12th after the second round of the Ladies European Tour’s ISPS World Invitational at Castlerock Golf Club.

In the tournament  also sanctioned by the DP World Tour and the LPGA Tour and played over Castlerock and Glagorm Castle, Alexander’s two-over-par 75 on the par-73 Castlerock took her to one-over-par for the tournament, just four strokes off the lead which was held by Marissa Steen of the United States. Steen carded a one-under 72 at Castlerock to lead by one from Esther Henseleit of Germany who had a two-under 71 at the same course. America’s Ryann O’Toole, Gabriella Cowley of England, Germany’s Olivia Cowan and left-handed Kim Metraux of Switzerland shared third on one-under.

The two other South Africans in the field both missed the cut. Nicole Garcia had a seven-over 79 at Galgorm to slip to six-over, and Lee-Anne Pace battled to a nine-over 71 on the same course to finish 36 holes at eight-over.
