Casandra Alexander made six birdies on Friday in the first round of the Ladies European Tour’s PIF London Championship at the Centurion Club in London, but three bogeys pegger her back to a three-under-par 70.
With three birdies on each of the nines, and a bogey on the front with two on the back, Alexander finished the first round in a share of 10th. She was three shots off the lead which was held by Alexandra Swain of the US Virgin Islands and Laura Fuenfstueck of Germany at six-under-par. In a share of second one shot back on five-under were Chiara Tamburlini of Switzerland and Spain’s Carlota Ciganda. There were five players on five-under in a share of fifth, and Alexander shared 10th with four others.
Lee-Anne Pace opened with a one-under 72 for a share of 29th, and Danielle du Toit, a last-minute addition to the field, carded an opening five-over 78 for a share of 90th.
