Casandra Alexander fought off her US Women’s Open hangover and the effects of trans-Atlantic travel on Friday as she carded a two-under-par 70 in the second round of the DP World Tour’s and Ladies European Tour’s Volvo Car Scandinavian Mixed.

She moved to five-under-par through 36 holes for the tournament and held a share of 25th as the equal fifth-best women’s player in the field.

The tournament was led – inevitably, after his opening nine-under-par 63 – by Sebastian Soderberg of Sweden who added a six-under 66 to his sparkling first round for a 15-under total through halfway. He led by three from Scotland’s Scott Jamieson, with France’s Julien Guerrier in third on 11-under.

The leading woman in the tournament was 2022 champion Linn Grant, who overcame a run of three consecutive bogeys on her front nine to sign for a four-under-par 68 and a total of nine-under. That put her in a share of fourth.

South Africa’s Dylan Frittelli fought hard for his one-under 71 which took him to eight-under and a share of eighth.

Louis de Jager shared 25th with Alexander after his third round of level-par 72. Lee-Anne Pace also had a 72 and was in a share of 49th on three-under.

Jayden Schaper, Nicole Garcia and Ockie Strydom missed the cut.
