Christiaan Bezuidenhout carded a six-under-par 66 in the first round of the PGA Tour’s Sanderson Farms Championship at The Country Club of Jackson in Jackson, Mississippi for a share of fourth place.

Bezuidenhout made four birdies and an eagle and he was two strokes off the lead, which was held by Chesson Hadley of the United States. Hadley’s eight-under was bogey-free and it gave him a one-shot lead over Henrik Norlander of Sweden and Brandon Wu of the United States. Bezuidenhout shared sixth with six other players.

The South African’s eagle came on the 15th after he had started his round on the 10th and made birdies on 11 and 13. Bezuidenhout hit his tee shot on 15 290 yards, just short of the greenside bunker and 38 yards from the pin, and chipped in for eagle from there.

Erik van Rooyen was in a share of 11th on five-under-par, while Garrick Higgo and MJ Daffue carded two-under-par 70 for a share of 65th. Dylan Frittelli was on level-par in a share of 115th.
