While Hideki Matsuyama of Japan was lapping the field with his nine-under-par 62 on Sunday, Christiaan Bezuidenhout was a lot less flashy with his level-par 71 and a share of 24th in the PGA Tour’s Genesis Invitational at Riviera Golf Club in Palisades, California.

Bezuidenhout made four birdies and four bogeys in his final round to reach five-under-par for the tournament and a share of 24th. He was 12 strokes behind Matsuyama, whose 17-under-par total bested Will Zalatoris and Luke List by three shots. Patrick Cantlay, who led going into the final round, could only manage on one-over 672 to finish in a share of fourth.

World number one Scottie Scheffler finished in a share of 10th, and Rory McIlroy, number two in the world, was in a share of 24th with, amongst others, Bezuidenhout.
