Christiaan Bezuidenhout was in a share of 13th after the third round of the PGA Tour’s Wells Fargo Championship on Saturday as he carded a one-over-par 72 at Quail Hollow in Charlotte, North Carolina.
It was a round during which Bezuidenhout had to constantly fight off the effect of untimely bogeys, starting with two in a row on his first two holes. He followed that with three birdies to get back under par, but then he made three bogeys in four holes around the turn. He got a shot back with a birdie on the 14th, but he slipped to two-under through 54 holes.
He was 10 strokes off the lead which was held by Xander Schauffele. Schauffele, who has been in charge of things from the very beginning, will take a one-stroke lead into the final round over Rory McIlroy. McIlroy had a four-under 67 in the third round.
