Christiaan Bezuidenhout joined 12 other players in a share of 14th after the first round of the Honda Classic on the PGA Tour as he had carded a two-under-par 68 when play was suspended with four groups still to complete their rounds.
Bezuidenhout made five birdies and three bogeys, and there were four major champions with him in a share of 14th in Jason Dufner, Shane Lowry, Zach Johnson and Geoff Ogilvy. The first-round lead was shared by Americans Joseph Bramlett and Billy Horschel, who carded five-under-par 65s. They led by one from Pierceson Coody, Justin Suh and Carson Young of the United States, and there were eight players on three-under.
Dylan Frittelli opened with a one-over-par 71 to be in a share of 62nd, while MJ Daffue had a four-over-par 74 for a share of 117th. Garrick Higgo was on five-over, and Erik van Rooyen struggled his way to a seven-over 77.
