Christiaan Bezuidenhout had a 17-place jump in his position on the Official World Golf Ranking list issued this week after his fourth-place finish in the Memorial Tournament on the PGA Tour at the weekend.

The South African number one had his best finish on the PGA Tour this season since his runner-up result in January in the American Express as he took his third top-10 place of the season. This one came in the seventh of the PGA Tour’s eight Signature Events with limited elite fields making the performance significant in terms of world ranking points.

Bezuidenhout climbed to 40^th, his best position since he won the Alfred Dunhill Championship at Leopard Creek back in 2020, and moved closer to his career-best ranking of 33^rd, achieved a week after his seventh-place finish in the Arnold Palmer Invitational on the PGA Tour back in 2021.

Outside the top 25 South African players on the list, Tristin Galant (left) reaped the rewards of his runner-up finish in a play-off loss to Jacques Blaauw on the Sunshine Tour in the SunBet Challenge at Sun City. He moved up 1,037 places from 2,352^nd to 1,315^th.

All of the players who finished in the top three places in that tournament had substantial leaps too. Blaauw led the way with a 141-place jump to 664^th, while Yurav Premlall was up 67 places to 853^rd and Jonathan Broomhead climbed 40 places to 636^th.

Deon Germishuys was rewarded for a good week on the Challenge Tour with a 33-place boost into 312^th.

With the US Open this week, Bezuidenhout, Dean Burmester, Erik van Rooyen and Casey Jarvis will all have the opportunity to make big moves on the rankings.
