Bezuidenhout’s 3-under puts him 14th in AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am

Christiaan Bezuidenhout opened the PGA Tour’s AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am at Pebble Beach Golf Links in Pebble Beach, California with a three-under-par 69 for a share of 14th place after the first round on Thursday.

Bezuidenhout will play his second round at Spyglass Hill Golf Course, which was the course on which the leader, Thomas Detry of Belgium, carded his opening nine-under-par 63. Detry chipped in on the 18th for his 10th birdie, after dropping his only shot on the fifth. He led by one from Patrick Cantlay of the United States. Last week’s winner, Matthieu Pavon of France, was the leading player from Pebble Beach with his seven-under putting him in third.

Bezuidenhout made five birdies and two bogeys, dropping shots on the ninth and the 16th, sharing 14th place with the likes of Tommy Fleetwood, Scottie Scheffler, Max Homa, Viktor Hovland and Matt Fitzpatrick.

Also on three-under in a share of 14th with Bezuidenhout was the other South African in the field, Erik van Rooyen. Also playing on Pebble Beach Golf Links, Van Rooyen also made five birdies and two bogeys
