Bryce Easton ran off four birdies in a row after the turn on Thursday on his way to an eight-under-par 63 in the first round of the Challenge Tour’s Kaskáda Golf Challenge at Golf Resort Kaskáda in Brno in the Czech Republic.
He dropped just a single shot on his way to the superb total, and he was in a share of second, two strokes behind the leader, Tomas Gouveia of Portugal. Gouveia had an eagle and eight birdies in his bogey-free 10-under-par 61.
Easton started his round on the 10th, and he had made four birdies by the time he reached the 17th. He dropped a shot on the par-four 18th, but quickly bounced back from that with four birdies in a row from the first. He added one more birdie for good measure on his final hole, the ninth.
He was in a share of second with Jannik de Bruyn of Germany, one clear of Denmark’s Hamish Brown. There were six players in a share of fifth on six-under.
Robin Williams and Deon Germishuys each carded five-under-par 66 to be amongst a group of nine players in a share of 11th, while Dylan Mostert was in a share of 30th on three-under. Louis Albertse, Tristen Strydom and Wilco Nienaber each carded two-under-par 69 for a share of 42nd, and Albert Venter was on one-under in a share of 56th.
Luke Jerling battled his way to a three-over-par 74.
