Jacques Blaauw produced one of his trademark charges on Friday as he carded a second-round six-under-par 65 in the Challenge Tour’s Le Vaudreuil Golf Challenge at Golf PGA France du Vaudreuil in Le Vaudreuil, France.
Blaauw made an eagle, five birdies and dropped just one shot while he climbed into a share of 16th place on four-under-par at the tournament halfway mark. That put him seven strokes behind the leader Paul Peterson of the United States, who had a one-stroke lead over Alfredo Garcia-Herodia after the Spaniard raced to an eight-under 63.
Hennie du Plessis produced a second-round of two-under 69 to move to two-under for the tournament in a share of 29th. Oliver Bekker battled his way to a two-over 73, but still made the cut with a halfway total of level-par 142 in a share of 45th. Jayden Schaper produced a second-consecutive level-par 71 to also be in a share of 45th going into the weekend. Jacques Kruyswijk got his game together in the second round, his three-under 68 lifting him inside the cut after his opening four-over 75 had left him struggling. Bryce Easton missed the cut with rounds of 75 and 71.
JC Ritchie withdrew after playing nine holes of the second round.
