Aldrich Potgieter put together a bogey-free six-under-par 65 on Thursday in the opening round of the Korn Ferry Tour’s NV5 Invitational presented by Old National Bank at The Glen Club in Glenview, Illinois.
Potgieter picked up five birdies on the front nine, and just one on the back nine without dropping a shot. He finished the first round just two strokes off the lead which was held by Canadians Wil Bateman and Sudarshan Yellamaraju and American Joe Weller at eight-under.
There were five players in a share of fourth on seven-under, and Potgieter shared ninth with 12 other players.
Christo Lamprecht had a two-under 69 in his opening round for a share of 78th, and Dawie van der Walt was on one-under in a share of 98th.
