Stacy Bregman opened with a bogey-free two-under-par 71 on Thursday in the first round of the Ladies European Tour’s KPMG Women’s Irish Open on the O’Meara Course at Carton House, Maynooth, County Kildare.
She made a birdie on each of the nines and finished the first round in a share of 25th. She was four shots off the lead, which was held at six-under-par by Chiara Tamburlini of Switzerland and Blanca Fernandez of Spain. The pair led by one from six players in a share of third, and there were 11 players on four-under in a share of ninth.
It was a day of varying conditions on the golf course with periods of sun, wind and some rain showers at Carton House.
“I’m very happy with how I played today,” said Tamburlini, who finished fourth in this tournament in 2024.
“It was a good day,” said the Spaniard. “Me and my caddie were talking through all of the shots, I was relaxed, and I just kept hitting the ball and sticking to the plan. Honestly, I didn’t feel this round coming.”
