Paula Reto got herself into a share of sixth on Friday with a bogey-free five-under-par 67 in the second round of the LPGA Tour’s Buick LPGA Shanghai, Qizhong Garden Golf Club in China.

Reto made one less birdie than she did in the first round, but by keeping the bogey’s off her card – she made three in the first round – she moved to eight-under-par at the halfway mark of the tournament. That put her four strokes off the lead which was held by Korea’s Sei Young Kim, who had a second round of two-under-par 70.

Kim was one stroke clear of Japan’s Mao Saigo and Lucy Li of the United States. Minjee Lee of Australia was in fourth at 10-under, and American Yealimi Noh was fifth on nine-under. Reto shared sixth with seven other players, including the in-form Celine Boutier of France and Jeeno Thitikul of Thailand.

It was a round of real consistency from Reto, who hit 12 of 14 fairways, 17 of 18 greens in regulation and she had 31 putts.

Ashleigh Buhai started her second round on the 10th, and had soon racked up two bogeys in the first three holes. But she was flawless after that, with two birdies on each of the nines for a two-under-par 70. That put her in a share of 46th on one-under through 36 holes.
