His closing three-under-par 69 at Benoni Country Club on Wednesday was enough to give LB Boshoff a three-stroke victory in the Bushveld Tour’s Srixon Series #4.
Despite two bogeys on the front nine, and a triple-bogey six on the par-three 15th, Boshoff made eight birdies in his final round, including two in a row on the closing 17th and 18th holes to finish on seven-under-par for the 54-hole tournament and his second victory on the Bushveld Tour.
Behind him, amateur Hannes Strooh finished strongly with a bogey-free five-under-par 67 to finish in a share of second on four-under-par. With him on four-under was veteran Brandon Pieters, who closed with a level-par 72.
Therion Nel was in fourth place on two-under-par after his closing three-under 69, and Sunshine Ladies Tour professional Kaiyuree Moodley finished well with a level-par 72 putting her in a share of fifth on one-under-par. With Moodley in fifth were 36-hole leader Reece McKain, who had a closing five-over 77, and Nick Lavarone, who signed off with a one-under 71.
The win took Boshoff to 12th on the Bushveld Tour Order of Merit. Oliver Goldhill leads, with Haydn Porteous in second and Pieters up to third.
