Barend Botha raced home in six-under-par 30 on Monday as he carded an eight-under-par 64 in the second round of the Korn Ferry Tour’s 2026 opener, the Bahamas Golf Classic at the Ocean Club on Paradise Island.
Botha, who opened with a level-par 72 with just one birdie and a bogey on Sunday, rectified matters with three birdies and a bogey after starting his round on the 10th. When darkness brought about the suspension of the second round, he had made birdies on one, two, four six, seven and nine and climbed to a share of 54th.
While that’s still a long way down the leaderboard and seven strokes off the lead, at least he should make the cut and give himself a chance of climbing even more over the final two rounds.
Three players led at 15-under-par, with 17 players still to complete their second rounds. Americans Dylan Menante and Taylor Dickson and Canada’s Roger Sloan had a one-stroke lead over another American Bryson Nimmer. Menante and Sloan each carded 65s and Dickson had three eagles on the front nine – his back nine – on his way to a 10-under 62.
