Dean Burmester shot the low round of the day on Sunday at Orange County National in Orlando in the final round of LIV Golf Florida to play his way into third place and his first podium finish in his third tournament on the circuit.
He signed for a seven-under-par 64, opening with an eagle on his first hole in the shotgun start, the 17th. He made six birdies and a bogey through the rest of his round, and, with his opening four-under and his second-round one-under, he moved to 12-under for the 54-hole event, together with Patrick Reed of the United States. They were three shots behind the winner Brooks Koepka, who became the first person to win twice in LIV Golf’s short life.
Charl Schwartzel was the second-best of the four South Africans, finishing 21st after his closing one-under-par 70. Branden Grace also signed off with a 70 to finish in 25th, and Louis Oosthuizen finished down the leaderboard of the 48-man field in 42nd after a 73.
The all-South African team, Stinger GC, finished in fourth place behind winners Torque GC consisting of Joaquin Niemann, David Puig, Mito Pereira and Sebastian Munoz. It was the third time in a row the South Africans have finished fourth, and they are fourth in the team standings after the first three events.
