Two bogeys were hardly enough to stop Jono Broomhead strolling to a four-stroke win on Wednesday in the Bushveld Tour’s Race to Q-School Golferade Series #3 at Wanderers Golf Club.
The top amateur player also made six birdies on his way to a four-under-par 67 on his way to a 19-under-par total for the 54-hole tournament. That put him four shots clear of second-placed Clinton Grobler, who closed with a three-under-par 68 to finish on 15-under. Arno Pretorius was on 14-under in third, with Coert Groenewald on 13-under in fourth. Four players shared fifth on 10-under-par.
The Race To Q-School Series is made up of three separate series of events. Each has its own Order of Merit. The Golferade Series is the second of the three. The top four finishers from each series will receive paid entry fees into the Sunshine Tour Qualifying School in April.
Rigardt Albertse topped the Order of Merit for the Golferade series, followed by Ryan Tipping, Broomhead and Nicholas Adams.
