Amateur Jono Broomhead raced to a superb nine-under-par 62 at Wanderers Golf Club on Tuesday to take a four-stroke lead after the second round of the 54-hole Race to Q-School Golferade Series #3 on the Bushveld Tour.

Broomhead made an eagle and seven birdies in a blemish-free round, starting his round with that eagle on the first hole. He picked up two more birdies on his outward nine, and then made five coming home to lead Clinton Grobler and Arno Pretorius by one shot.

Grobler had a second round of 64 to go with his opening 67, and Pretorius carded a 65. =First-round leader Jonathan Waschefort had a second-round 69 to move to 10-under and a share of fourth with Gerhard Pepler, who signed for a 65.
