While Ashleigh Buhai moved to 10-under-par in the third round of the Meijer LPGA Classic on Saturday with her third-round three-under-par 69, she found herself 10 shots off the runaway leader ahead of the final round.

Buhai made just one bogey in a good third round, but her two birdies on each of the nines at Blythefield Country Club in Grand Rapids, Michigan were not enough to keep her in touch with Nelly Korda who made 11 birdies and a bogey on her way to a superlative 10-under 62 for a three-stroke lead over Ireland’s Leona Maguire.

In the end, Buhai had a share of 28th going into the final round.

Korda’s 62 matched the tournament record score to par and sets a career-best mark. Korda also added her name to the short list of players who have carded 11 birdies in a round, tied for the second most in LPGA Tour history behind only Annika Sorenstam’s 13 from her famed 59 in 2001.

“I like this golf course a lot,” Korda said. “Finished inside the top-10 the last time we were here [in 2019] so I feel comfortable out here. I had short clubs in [today] which was nice. I was hitting fairways, hitting it close. When you have putts inside 10 feet, you’re bound to roll one or two in.”
