Ashleigh Buhai made an eagle, three birdies and four bogeys on Sunday to close out the LPGA Tour’s HSBC Women’s World Championship with a one-under-par 71 and a share of 51st place in the 65-player field.
The tournament was won by Korea’s Jin Young Ko on a total of 17-under-par after she carded a final-round six-under-par 66. She won by two shots from Australia’s Minjee Lee and fellow-Korean In Gee Chun. Lee charged hard with her closing nine-under 63, and fell just short, while Chun signed off with a three-under 69.
Buhai started her round at four-over for the tournament, and birdied the first hole to get things going in the right direction. She made another birdie on the fourth, but dropped a shot on the sixth. She picked up her eagle on the eighth, but followed it with a bogey immediately thereafter. She dropped again immediately after the turn, and another bogey came on the 16th. But she managed to pick up her other birdie in between those with her gain on the 12th.
