Ashleigh Buhai added a two-under-par 70 to her total on Friday in the second round of the LPGA Tour’s Mizuho Americas Open at Liberty National Golf Club in Jersey City, New Jersey.
Her five birdies and three bogeys moved her to five-under for the tournament through 36 holes. That out her in a share of seventh place, four strokes behind the leader Atthaya Thitikul of Thailand. Thitikul raced into two-stroke lead at nine-under after a seven-under-par 65 in the second round. So Mi Lee of Korea was in second, with four players, including world number one Nelly Korda, in third on six-under.
Thitikul went bogey-free during round two, carding seven birdies, including five in her last seven holes, and broke the 36-hole tournament scoring record by two shots.
Paula Reto missed the cut after a second round of four-over 76 left her at six-over and in a share of 102nd.
